NSCSL Power Rankings

Rankings as of Wednesday, June 18, 2008 (View Last Week)

They're already out of date, but here they are, the latest Power Rankings written by Gabe Gibson, coach of Linwood Covenant.

1 Grace YG Record: 14-0 Grace YG remains at the top of the rankings and the top of the B division again this week after two wins over interchurch rivals Grace Roseville II, knocking Grace Roseville II out of the top 10 in the rankings and leaving Grace YG as the only team from the B division in the top 10. This Sunday Grace YG will be looking to clinch the B division title as they face a Roseville Covenant team that will be looking to continue their own winning "streak". Grace YG will also be looking to continue their bid to become the only undefeated team in the modern era of the NSCSL since Crossroads I went 20-0 in 2001. The kids from Grace are well on their way to moving up to the A division, and I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the rest of the B division will be sad to see them go, but will get over it by the start of next season.
Men's B Last Week: 1
2 King of Kings I Record: 11-3 King of Kings I maintains the second spot in the rankings this week, as well as the lead in the A division, despite a tough split with Eagle Brook Red. King of Kings I has scored the most runs in the league so far, and they continue the defense of their A division title at Perry Park this week against North Haven I, who is in a 3-way tie for second place in the A division, and just missed making the top 10 in the rankings this week, coming in at #12. Having been on the losing end of both games against King of Kings I and North Haven I in the first two weeks of the season, I can personally attest to how difficult both of these teams are to beat. It's not July yet, but there will be fireworks at Perry Park this Sunday!
Men's A Last Week: 2
3 Bethlehem Baptist I Record: 12-2 Bethlehem Baptist I holds on to the third spot in the rankings and second place in the D division this week after two wins over Church of the Way, setting the stage for a battle for first place in the D division when 12-2 Bethlehem Baptist I and 13-1 St. Paul Fellowship I go head to head this Sunday in the D division Title Fight! These two teams are the clear favorites in the D division this season, and both should be looking to move on to greener (not to mention larger) pastures next season. Until then, Central Park is not a big enough cage to contain the beast that is Bethlehem Baptist I's Dustin Steward, who currently leads the league with 18 home runs.
Men's D Last Week: 3
4 Willowbrook Record: 12-2 Willowbrook again claims the fourth spot in the rankings this week, as well as the C division lead, with two wins over Hope Community II. Willowbrook continues to allow the fewest runs in the league, but they face the toughest remaining schedule in the C division as they look to hold on to first place, starting with a matchup against St. Paul Fellowship II this Sunday.
Men's C Last Week: 4
5 Woodland Hills Record: 11-3 Woodland Hills climbs to the fifth spot in the rankings and second place in the C division this week after two wins over Bethlehem Baptist III. Woodland Hills is having a successful first season in the NSCSL so far, and they will be looking to make a run at the C division title in the next few weeks, starting with a matchup against Grace Church Wyoming this Sunday.
Men's C Last Week: 8
6 St. Paul Fellowship I Record: 13-1 St. Paul Fellowship I moves up to the sixth spot in the rankings and remains in first place in the D division after two wins over Prince of Peace Lutheran this week, setting the stage for a battle for first place in the D division when 13-1 St. Paul Fellowship I and 12-2 Bethlehem Baptist I go head to head this week in the D division Title Fight! These two teams are the clear favorites in the D division this season, and both should be looking to move on to greener (not to mention larger) pastures next season. For now though, Central Park cannot stop Pat Kahnke and Jerry Holt, it can only hope to contain them.
Men's D Last Week: 7
7 Eagle Brook Red Record: 9-5 After splitting with King of Kings I this week, Eagle Brook Red drops to the seventh spot in the rankings, but remains in a three-way tie for second place in the A division. Eagle Brook Red leads the league in batting average, thanks largely to Noah Shadis and Jon Driscoll (who have been regulars on the top 5 leaderboard for batting average) and the recent contributions of superstud Kory Soderquist. Eagle Brook Red will be looking to stay in the hunt for the A division title starting this Sunday with a matchup against St. Stephanus I.
Men's A Last Week: 5
8 Linwood Covenant Record: 9-5 Linwood Covenant makes it into the top 10 in the rankings for the first time this season after two wins over Eagle Brook Blue, moving them into a 3-way tie for second place in the A division. After losing their first 4 games of the season, Linwood Covenant has won 9 out of 10, thanks in part to leading the league in home runs with 54. Allow me to say what everyone else is thinking right now: "Home runs might win a derby, but defense wins championships". That remains to be seen as Linwood Covenant looks to stay in the mix for the A division title as they face Crossroads Covenant this Sunday.
Men's A Last Week: 12
9 St. Paul Fellowship II Record: 10-4 St. Paul Fellowship II moves up to the ninth spot in the rankings this week with two wins over Grace Church Wyoming, knocking Grace Church Wyoming out of the top 10 in the rankings (to #11) and moving St. Paul Fellowship II into a tie for third place in the C division. Former Central Park legend Luke "The Force" Roquet is enjoying the spacious confines of Community Park, leading the league in hits, extra-base hits, and RBIs. St. Paul Fellowship II will need to get past current C division leaders Willowbrook this Sunday in order to make a run at the C division title.
Men's C Last Week: 10
10 Eagle Brook Black Record: 10-4 Eagle Brook Black rounds out the top 10 this week after two wins over Hope Community III, moving Eagle Brook Black into a tie with St. Paul Fellowship II for third place in the C division. After losing 3 out of their first 5 games, Eagle Brook Black has won 8 out of their last 9, thanks to a balanced offense and solid defense. They face Bethlehem Baptist III this week as they look to make a move in the race for the C division title.
